MDQ-A
Mood Disorder Questionnaire - Adolescent Version (MDQ-A)
The MDQ-A is a self-administered screening tool designed to detect symptoms of bipolar disorder in adolescents. It helps identify manic and hypomanic episodes as well as the co-occurrence of symptoms, thereby improving early recognition of mood disorders in this population.

Scoring & interpretation
The MDQ-A includes 13 questions about manic/hypomanic symptoms, followed by questions on whether these symptoms occurred at the same time and on their functional impact. A positive screen is usually obtained if at least 7 answers are positive, if the co-occurrence of symptoms is reported, and if a moderate to marked impact on daily life is reported. It is a screening tool, not a diagnostic one.
