Inventory of Dysfunctional Tendencies (TD-12)

The TD-12 is a self-report personality inventory designed to identify 12 dysfunctional tendencies likely to impair occupational adjustment, the quality of working relationships and behavioral self-control in sensitive or demanding contexts. It is mainly used by work psychologists and assessment professionals in recruitment, pre-selection, behavioral risk analysis, coaching and professional development. The tool is not intended to establish a psychiatric diagnosis, but to identify areas of behavioral vulnerability that may translate into maladaptive, counterproductive, unethical or hard-to-regulate behaviors under stress. It is particularly relevant for positions of responsibility, managerial roles and so-called sensitive occupations, while remaining usable in broader contexts of workplace personality assessment.

Scoring & interpretation

The responses are aggregated into 12 scales corresponding to 12 dysfunctional tendencies. Raw scores are converted into standardized T-scores with a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10 in order to place the person relative to the norms. The higher the T-score, the more marked the tendency. Scores around 60 already indicate a notable deviation from the mean, while scores close to 70 or above signal a strong elevation warranting an in-depth analysis of behavioral risk. Interpretation must take into account the overall profile, the highest scales, the job context and the validity indicators before drawing any conclusion.
